Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my blog! I wanted to share my thoughts about Altenew's March 2018 Inspiration Challenge. Virginia Lu, the accomplished designer of this challenge, drew her inspiration from her trip to Greece in 2014. Art naturally evolves from beauty and the Greek Islands are a prime example!
I was drawn to the earthy hues of the mountainous terrain and decided to anchor my A2 card using that tone. I have on stock Daler/Rowney an affordable watercolor set. This set is super versatile for mixing colors. I really love that! So, I was able to match (as closely as possible) to Altenew's Caramel Toffee Crisp Dye which looks so rich and creamy. I am obsessing over cover dies lately. I find these add so much intricacy to a card in a quick and simple way. So, I used Altenew's Cover Leaf die on top of the watercolor backdrop. Next, I used the Build a Peony set and created a layered look, one in Aqualicious Blue and the other in Coral Bliss, graduating in size. Then, I wanted to bring the Caramel Toffee back to the forefront. Therefore, I created branches out of Recollections Colored 65lb cardstock and embossed a sentiment from the Believe in yourself Chrysanthemum stamp set - which I absolutely am so thrilled with! Lastly, I went back and added some Nuvo drops to the peonies and some bling! We all need bling in our lives, don't we!
I didn't take pictures throughout my card making process because this was my first challenge, but I promise to do so next time I blog.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
