Hi everyone! I have another seafaring themed card swimming your way today. The panel was created with various distress ink oxides and a HA stencil. ***TIP*** Working with most mediums and stencils, I like to use a hard surface underneath and then mask. This time I used an old cutting pad. The masking works perfectly to start your blending on. That way, when you get to your panel, the ink will blend nice and smoothly. So with the background complete, I started playing with mermaids!! I simply cannot get enough of TSOL mermaid2stamp and the coordinating die set. The possibilities are endless! This set is perfect year round for birthdays, sending well wishes, as well as missing you. When my daughter was six, I gave her an "Under the Water" birthday event! This stamp set would've been perfect for invitations!
For this card, I also used fish2stamp and turtles2love and die set. I stamped all the images with Momento black ink and heat set it to make certain it was nice and set. Then I Copic colored all the images. These are the colors I used for the mermaid:
For the fish I used Y00, Y02,Y06, Y17 and YR04 and for the turtle I used G99 and a gel pen to create the white. I then added some sugarpowder felt clouds and my sentiment. I like using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform with projects like these when stamping sentiments directly onto the panel. You can easily re-stamp the image in the same exact place if the image doesn't come out right the first time.
My pattern paper comes from this month's June Card kit Sparkle. I used MFT stitched and scalloped die and then adhered the Sparkle paper to my cardbase. I raised my entire mermaid panel using foam tape. I also gave a bit of dimension to her tail and the turtle by raising them up with foam squares. I added Caribbean Ocean Nuvo drops to my fish, Banana Split to my mermaid clam shells, as well as Nuvo Morning Dew drops as ocean droplets scattered.
